John Rylands began the expansion of business in Liverpool in 1866 by establishing a branch on 7, March[1]. In 1868, Rylands & Sons acquired an office that totalled up to £30,000[2] and was located on Roe Street in front of St. George’s Hall. He also acquired another plot in Liverpool in 1874[3], as well as part of Compton House in 1876[4]. In 1880, he leased an additional firm’s branch as well as a warehouse.
