Everyday thousands of people pass by, see it through the bus window and at some point have heard about the John Rylands Library. It is located in the central part of the city and is ranked #1 out of 97 attractions in Manchester, according to Trip Advisor. Moreover, thousands of families visit Longford Park each year, yet how much knowledge do people have about how important John Rylands was in creating these historically important sites.
This is a BA (Hons) Political History, independent dissertation project for Manchester Metropolitan University, 2014 – 2015. The project has been completed in two parts:
-
The creation and the establishment of the web page particularly concentrating on John Rylands businesses and his charitable activities.
-
A booklet on the John Rylands Library. If you wish to receive a free copy of the booklet, please enter you name, e-mail address and address you would like to receive the booklet to.
Due to the nature of the website, it is mainly useful for educational purposes as it contains primary sources and comprehensive research about this particular topic, but is also available for those who are interested in John Rylands history, his businesses and his personality.
Although all the information gathered is based on evidence, there is still a possibility the facts are not totally accurate. If any problems occur, please contact me providing your e – mail address and I will get back as soon as possible.
