Bolton Mills

Bolton Mills, 1890.

John Rylands acquired Mather Street and Fletcher Street Mills at Bolton in 1874[1] for £49,277[2]. Despite the fact, that John Rylands preferred to buy second – hand warehouses[3], production of fancy cloths turned out to be deficient. The building was built in 1830 therefore was equipped with 600 old Jacquard looms[4]. Due to the Mills making losses, the firm decided to sell them in 1890, however the mills were sold in 1902[5].
