Manchester's Gay Village
Manchester's Gay village is found in the City Centre and consists of a few streets lined with a variety of Gay clubs and pubs. It is extremely popular among party goers in the City as it holds a lively atmsphere and hosts an arrange of great events and club nights.
The Gay Village is mainly one large street called Canal Street surrounded by a number of smaller one. Manchester canal runs through the Gay Village and boats of a barge bar. During the summer months Canal Street is paticularly busy as it provides a place where City Centre visitors can enjoy food and drink outside beside the canal.
Some of the main clubs found within and outside the Gay village include:
G-A-Y:
G-A-Y is one of the busiest Gay clubs located on Canal Street. It isn't just found in Manchester City Centre, but is also located in London. It is open to anyone who wishes to enjoy its Lively party nights.
Cruz 101:
Cruz 101 is a popular nightclub found just outside the Gay village. It offers various themed nights including fancy dress to hosting Dj party's. It welcomes people of all sexualities aslong as there is mutual respect. This club holds a membership which offers the customer to deals and discounts throughout the week's party schedule
Birdcage:
Birdcage is a Club located on the other side of Manchester City Centre. It holds huge entertainment and party nights including tribute acts, Dj nights, Student Nights, Drag Shows and cabaret
As you walk towards the Gay village and enter the surrounding streets, there are a number of streets announcing 'Welcome the the gay village' with inspirational quotes attached underneath attempting to engage the viewer to think about the gay community and attitudes towards it.
Also found on Canal St. are signs for LGBT (the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender society) offereing support and showing that they group holds social networking accounts.
Whilst during the night the gay village is a haven for partygoers during the day it provides a relaxing atmosphere with the surrounding streets holding a number of restaurants, cafés, pubs and hotels.
